AbroadDays is a small, independent website of free calculators for people whose lives cross borders: travellers watching the Schengen 90/180 rule, permanent residents working toward citizenship, and remote workers keeping an eye on tax residency.
How we build the calculators
- We start from official rules. Each calculator is based on the rules and guidance published by the relevant authority, such as the European Commission, USCIS, the IRS, the UK Home Office, IRCC and the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Every page links to its sources.
- We count days the way the authority does. Rules differ on whether departure and arrival days count, and whether limits apply per calendar year or on a rolling basis. We follow each authority's method.
- We test the maths. The counting engine is covered by automated tests on edge cases: leap years, trips crossing New Year, overlapping trips, and exact-limit boundaries such as 180 vs 181 days.
- We review the rules regularly. Rules were last checked on 29 September 2026. When a rule changes, or a change is announced, we update the page and say so.
What we don't do
We are not lawyers or tax advisers, and we are not affiliated with any government. The calculators give estimates based on the dates you enter. Your full circumstances matter, so check official guidance or get professional advice before you make decisions.
Privacy by design
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The trips you enter are saved only on your device so they are there when you come back. We never receive them. See our privacy policy.
